The Pennsylvania Save the Flags Civil War collection, 1861-1865.

Contains the following types of materials: correspondence, memoirs, clippings, diary / journal. Contains information pertaining to the following war: Civil War. General description of the collection: Pennsylvania Save the Flags Civil War collection includes a variety of letters, diaries, etc. from a wide variety of Pennsylvania units and theaters of the Civil War. There are two boxes full of K.A. Moore's letters and diaries (1861-1865) from his service with the 77th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. One box full of Andrew Jackson Elliott's diary (1861-1865) of the 37th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. Material was collected by Dr. Richard Sommers to document the history of Pennsylvania regimental battle flags stored in the State Capitol Building. These papers also provide documentation for his book Advance the Colors.
